Mt.Heko

This is the highest mountain in Ikeda Town with an elevation of 1464.6 meters. Mekohime the crown princess of the 26th emperor of Japan Keitaitenno emperor(approx. 450-531) is enshrined here. Around the peak the road is maintained, meaning that you can lightly hike up to the peak in around 20 minutes after leaving your car. On fine days you can get a view over the Sea of Japan. In autumn (middle of October) the view of the autumn foliage of the primeval beech tree forests in fiery reds is magnificent.
